Søndag Søndag
Jesper performs piano in the duo Søndag Søndag with Katrine Grarup Elbo (violin). The duo has released two albums on Sony Classical (New York), both recorded at Nils Frahm’s Funkhaus studio in Berlin.
Background & Career
Jesper began his musical journey at the age of ten. After graduating from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, he attended masterclasses with Kasper Winding and later toured with him.
A long-standing collaboration with Flemming Quist Møller led to composing songs and scores for films such as Jungledyret Hugo and Cykelmyggen Egon, the latter receiving the award for Best Children’s Album.
Projects & Artistic Development
In 2008, Jesper conceived the rock musical “69 – A Rock Theatre Concert”, about the Youth House at Jagtvej 69. The production won a Reumert Award for Best Musical Theatre in 2009.
He has collaborated with international composers, including Irv Johnson, contributing to the score of the US feature film Kid Cannabis.
Jesper has composed music for ballets by Alexander Kølpin and collaborated with flamenco dancer and choreographer Selene Muñoz. His artistic platform Fortættet Fredag has fostered cross-disciplinary collaborations with writers and artists such as Yahya Hassan, Josefine Klougart, Søren Huss, and Henrik Nordbrandt.
In 2020, Jesper co-wrote the script and songs for Jungledyret Hugo at Bellevue Theatre with Flemming Quist Møller, and subsequently directed the production.
